Mend - Oculus Launch Pad
So, Mend is my baby. Here’s the short of it:
I was selected to attend Oculus Launch Pad, which is a program for VR developers consisting of an on-site bootcamp, hardware and software support, and access to Facebook Connect (formerly known as Oculus Connect). I then had three months to develop a Vertical Slice.
Mend is the result those three months. During that time, I
Created the overall game idea, setting, story, and characters
Built a inter-disciplinary, five person dev team
Prototyped a unique VR locomotion system utilizing the Oculus SDK
Implemented core gameplay features in Unity
Modeled and textured both characters, implemented character rigging and animations
Worked with engineers and artists to fine-tune the demo
Delivered a full gameplay demo, as well as accompanying pitch documents directly to Oculus
Pitched the project on-site at Facebook HQ in Menlo Park, CA
Award Winning!
Mend was one of 8 projects hand-picked by Oculus to receive a highly prestigious Oculus Launch Pad Scholarship! After winning the scholarship, I partnered with a local XR studio, Digital Precept, to continue work on the project.
